Choose your day tour here

We´ve selected a range of cross country (XC) riding style mountain bike tours. Having MTB experience helps, but is not essential for each ride. We can tune these rides to your own skills and preferences. Having a reasonable fitness is however important, though some of the rides are harder than others.

For those that want to ride on small roads but not really like to go off road we´ve selected two trekking style cycling tours. These rides are also very suitable for family tours with children. Click here for the trekking tours. For more advanced riders we also offer several all mountain MTB tours. Finally, if you´d rather go out on your own, check out our self guided tours.

Below is some key information about the XC rides. In addition, on our Gallery page you´ll find links to photos and videos that will give you an  even better impression.

XC MTB guided tours

1. Greatest hits - Vol. I
Route: Moraira - Benitachell - Jesus Pobre - Gata de Gorgos - Moraira
New to the area and want to find out what mountain biking is like over here? Than this ride has a great collection of trails you should get to know!

The ride is from Snakebite HQ in Moraira and takes you almost immediately off road. For about 15K we cruise flowy trails through forests and fields, before descending into the dry Gorgos river bed. Here we cross the valley in the direction of the foot of Montgó mountain where we will follow a trail to the towns of Jesus Pobre and Gata de Gorgos. In this village we usually break for coffee at the church square to recharge ourselves for the final third of this ride. We drop again into the river bed and from there we climb back to Benitachell and Moraira.

This ride is really of combination of the best elements cross country mountain biking offers: single track, some rocky parts, drops and also small roads and gravel paths to get some miles in.
Key data:
  • Distance: 40 - 45 K (shorter versions available, especially in summer)
  • Duration: around 3-4 hrs (depending on breaks)
  • Climbing: 500 - 750 m
  • Fitness: low - medium
  • Technical level: medium (easier alternatives exist – we can decide to adjust the route on the fly)
  • Price: from € 32,50 (includes rental MTB (hardtail), helmet, water bottle, guided tour and bike insurance)

2. The smell of gravel in the morning
Route: Benissa – Lliber
– Jalón – Parcent – Benissa
One of our personal favourites. This tour is a great way to get a good impression of this corner of Spain. From Benissa we pass through the vineyards of the 'Vall de Pop' to the villages of Lliber, Jalón and Parcent. This tour takes us over small country roads, gravel roads and some rocky sections. Heading back we cycle at the foot of the 'Coll de Rates' with views of the valley and we check out a nice single track. Usually we break at the Velosol cycling bar in Jalón for coffee (and maybe some pancakes...). The route starts and finishes in Benissa. Climbs on this ride are never long but as the route profile constantly changes, a pretty good fitness is required.
Key data:
  • Distance: 40 K (shorter versions available, especially in summer)
  • Duration: around 4 hrs (depending on breaks)
  • Climbing: 750 m
  • Fitness: medium
  • Technical level: medium (easier alternatives exist – we can decide to adjust the route on the fly)
  • Price: from € 34,50 (includes rental MTB (hardtail), helmet, water bottle, guided tour and bike insurance)

3. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Route: Benissa – Calpe / Sierra Olta – Benissa
A combination of asphalted farm roads, forest paths, gravel roads, rocky trails and even a long downhill trail; this route has it all. And it's only a stone's throw off the coast!

We leave Benissa by descending into a dry river bed followed by the only piece of flat road during the entire ride. Next we ride single tracks around Calpe, go up and down the slopes of Sierra Olta several times before heading back to Benissa. It is a wonderfully scenic mountain bike tour with a lot of altitude and varied surface. It is the combination of short, steep climbs and nice descents which makes this into an interesting but also pretty hard ride, so a good physical condition is required!
Key data:
  • Distance: 40-45 K
  • Duration: around 3-5 hrs (depending on breaks and fitness)
  • Climbing: 1.100 m
  • Fitness: medium/high
  • Technical level: medium
  • Price: from € 35,50 (includes rental MTB (hardtail), helmet, water bottle, guided tour and bike insurance)

4. The leg burner
Route: Moraira - Teulada - Benissa - Jalón - Gata de Gorgos -
Benitachell - Moraira
We start the day by climbing from Moraira to Teulada which will easily warm us up. From there we cruise to Benissa where another bit of climbing awaits us. Over gravel and dirt roads we reach the ´Vall de Pop´ (Jalón valley) where we´ll encounter some olive groves and vineyards. Mid ride we break in Jalón before heading back to the coast again. Gradually we let the MTB tires take a beating when we cross a dry canyon before eventually rolling back downhill to Snakebite HQ.

  • Duration: around 3-5 hrs (depending on breaks and fitness)
  • Climbing: 1.000 m

5. A route with a view
Route: Moraira / Benitachell - Cumbre del Sol - Cala Granadella - Jávea - Moraira
Riding on the edge between land and sea is why we call this ´a route with a view.´ We can either start the ride at Snakebite HQ in Moraira or if we want to limit the climbing metres, start in Benitachell. From there we´ll ride up Cumbre del Sol (or officially: Puig Llorença). We continue the tour right on top of the cliffs alongside the Mediterranean before dropping down to Cala Granadella, which is considered to be one of Spain's most beautiful bays. From there some more climbing while we head to Jávea. From Jávea we roll back to Moraira and it is most likely that by then we can feel our legs...

This ride is never really technical, so MTB novices will also be able to complete it.
